Building for the future: I2C Innovation Center launches

A factory is to be built for an electronics component manufacturer at its future headquarters in the Frankfurt am Main metropolitan region, which will be optimally tailored to the company’s needs – the I2C Innovation Center. Firstly, the development of the master plan and the detailed design and approval planning were conducted by the team from Dr. Schönheit + Partner (S + P) and selected planning partners. Based on that the building application has now been handed over to the client’s management, for the first time also in digital form.

As a strategic technology partner for companies, our client develops and manufactures professional electronics for both industrial and private applications. This also includes solutions for sustainable mobility. This year, the company was awarded the TOP 100 innovation prize for the second time, making it one of the hundred most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany.

At the heart of the new Innovation Center is the multi-storey factory building, which ensures maximum use of space. The building will accommodate all areas of the company: Production and logistics, research & development as well as administration. Parking and bicycle parking spaces with free e-charging stations will also be available in the basement for the majority of the approximately 150 employees.

The modern energy concept meets the highest standards of sustainable factory design. This factory concept, is geared towards self-sufficiency. It  includes the in-house generation of electricity and nitrogen as well as the supply of heat and air conditioning via geothermal heat pumps. The basis for this will be the installation of the maximum possible number of photovoltaic modules on a green roof area and the large battery storage system.

In 2025, the go-ahead will be given for the implementation of this state-of-the-art factory. This will be carried out in close cooperation between the client and the S + P team of experts from factory planning, architecture, lean consulting and project management. We are very pleased to be able to accompany this impressive project through to the ramp-up.
