Interview

Cornelia May

WHAT DO YOU DO AT S + P?

I work in architecture and have a lot to do with workspace planning. This includes property analysis and concept development as a prelude to design. I also supervise service phases 1-4, which include basic evaluation, preliminary design, design and approval planning.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK?

As I am very curious, I look forward to new and unknown insights in every project, which I am very happy to work out with the client in personal discussions. I also like to concentrate on the tasks that follow the client meetings, such as sketching, drawing with CAD, or calculating areas and costs.

WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE OF YOUR JOB?

It takes time to become an expert in the different areas of architecture. In the beginning, keeping track of all the different tasks and information was a big challenge for me. It’s important to keep an eye on all the information and to-dos at all times.

HOW IS THE TEAMWORK?

Here at S + P we support each other. In our interdisciplinary teams, we regularly exchange information, so that we can identify particularly urgent tasks and solve them together. Helping each other is a matter of course.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT S + P?

What I appreciate about S + P are the good structures that provide stability at work, interesting projects as well as the opportunity to develop solutions together at management level.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

Whenever I have time, I like to do sports or play the cello. I also love observing and caring for the plants in my garden and experimenting a little with gardening.

WHAT INTERESTS YOU OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I think history is very important and I’m happy to write an article every now and then when it comes to design history and plastics. I’m also very interested in nature and the environment. Last year, I even trained to become an energy efficiency expert. I’m also active as a sports trainer and regularly take part in further training.

WHAT SAYING / QUOTE MOTIVATES YOU? WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO IN LIFE?

Those who know history can understand the present and change the future. I wish myself the strength to change the things I can change, the courage to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to distinguish between the two.

WHAT CAN YOU NOT DO WITHOUT IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?

Conversations with my family and people who are basically positive and express that in their thoughts and actions.
