WHAT DO YOU DO AT S + P?

I work here as a student trainee in the consulting department and have already supported several projects in the area of operational excellence. My focus is on production improvement and production consulting. For example, I am currently assisting the team with a project in which I am working on master planning, i.e. plant structure planning.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

What I particularly like about my work at S + P is that I am given a lot of responsibility. For example, in my second week I was allowed to go to a customer meeting, which was a sign of appreciation for me. Later, I also went to the customer on my own to take time and activity records, for example. But I also like the variety in my work: one day you’re in the office and the next day you’re back at the customer or on site in production. This gives you the opportunity to see and experience both sides. And of course I like the working environment, because there are a lot of young people working at S + P. I also get on well with my older colleagues – communication is at eye level and is always respectful and friendly.

WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE OF YOUR JOB?

First of all, I never feel alone at S + P. I can always ask for help if something is unclear and I always get support. At the beginning, the biggest challenge for me were the customer meetings. Although they are very interesting, they also require a lot of expertise and full concentration for several hours. But it’s also a lot of learning by doing. But the versatile thinking is also challenging. A project involves everything from inventory through system selection to automation concepts. So you have to run through a lot of different scenarios in your head. But that’s exactly what I enjoy.

HOW IS THE TEAMWORK?

We always work as equals. Whether you’re talking to one of the directors or another student, you’ll always get open, honest and appreciative feedback. We are a young team and even though we are a consulting company, we have a relaxed tone. So you can make a joke or chat for five minutes without having to focus solely on work.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT S + P?

Already during my training, I wanted a job that was close to production, but at the same time an office job. S + P gives me the perfect opportunity to combine the two. Not only do I get to see production, talk to the workers and meet different people, but I also get to help develop strategic plans. In the current project, we are also going into production, taking part in meetings and have even developed a shop floor plan together with the workers. So you’re not just sitting behind a desk. It’s very operational and you are where things happen. I can only say again and again that I am really grateful for the appreciation that is shown to everyone. What’s more, everyone is very helpful and the managers are always willing to listen. For example, at the beginning of the year we had a student day organized, during which we were able to optimize the application process for students. S + P has a lot to offer and even as a student you are fully involved and can contribute your ideas. In addition, S + P organizes various events on a regular basis, such as a summer party, a company outing or a joint breakfast.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT IS NOT COVERED IN THE QUESTIONS?

One point that comes to mind is that the students’ individual needs are taken into account. For example, I am currently writing my Bachelor’s thesis and can arrange my working hours flexibly in consultation with my mentor so that my university commitments are not neglected. The same applies here: appreciation and at eye level.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

Since I’m currently working on my Bachelor thesis, I don’t have much time for other things. However, in general I like to hang out with my friends, do sports like running, soccer or swimming, cook, take pictures and travel.

WHAT SAYING / QUOTE MOTIVATES YOU? WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO IN LIFE?

I don’t follow a saying or quote, but certain values are important to me. These include gratitude, empathy, and kindness. For example, I am grateful for my job, which I enjoy, and for my employer, which gives me great opportunities. But I am also grateful for where we live and how we are doing here in Germany. I also have a great family, great friends and a great girlfriend – I keep reminding myself of that. But empathy and kindness are also important to me, because if everyone was empathetic and kind and lived by the motto “Do not do to others what you would not want done to yourself”, then there would be fewer problems. We should just go through the world with a smile more often and be kind to each other.

WHAT CAN YOU NOT DO WITHOUT IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?

Coffee! A morning without coffee would be hard. Other than that, I can live a day without anything: without sports, without a girlfriend, without friends, without Playstation, and I could even live a day without my cell phone.
