A shipbuilding company is implementing an innovative production concept: In collaboration with the operational excellence experts at Dr. Schönheit + Partner, a new, scalable production concept for manufacturing safety systems has been developed. With this concept, the company is laying the groundwork to effectively address both growing market potential and current challenges, such as the shortage of specialized skilled workers.
The challenge of the project was to expand production capacity and optimize processes in such a way that market potential could be maximized while maintaining the same level of resources. To this end, our planning team conducted a comprehensive analysis of the existing production process and developed a new, efficient layout enabling improved space utilization and higher process quality. In addition to production planning, the warehouses and intralogistics were sized, and a new production-adjacent main warehouse was integrated into the plan.
The result is a new organizational structure designed to increase production by 110% by 2027 – without requiring additional space. To achieve this, the rebuilding of the production is being implemented in phases while operations continue as usual.
