Optimization of logistics and production processes

Company from the medical technology sector, Singapore

Multi-storey production buildings are increasingly becoming the standard, especially in non-European locations. In this case, our project focused on the relocation of the production site to a multi-storey building and the simultaneous implementation of optimized and growth-oriented production and logistics. Simulations of the central transport, handling and storage processes were used to optimize logistics flows and processes, while bottlenecks in the building infrastructure were identified and countermeasures developed and validated. Long-term, sustainable strategies for further growth rounded off the project results.

Tasks and objectives

The aim was to expand production capacity at the Singapore site in order to promote the growth, development and production of digital health solutions. The plan was to relocate to a multi-storey building with a total area of 25,000 m². Our tasks included the design of a part class-dependent material flow and supply concept over several floors as well as the definition, selection and support of the selection process for storage and transportation equipment.

Procedure and solutions

One of our main tasks was to design all processes in such a way that they would support long-term sales growth and optimally handle the resulting increase in transport and storage volumes. Based on various growth scenarios, Dr. Schönheit + Partner's team of experts simulated the central transport, handling and storage processes and identified potential bottlenecks. In collaboration with the client's interdisciplinary project team, we developed long-term and sustainable measures to optimize the processes and ensure the planned growth.
